Selection for admission to the Post-Master's programme will be carried out by a special committee appointed by the Post-Master's Council and will consist of:
- a preliminary selection based on the evaluation of qualifications;
- an admission test.
The preliminary selection based on qualifications will be carried out on the basis of the following preferential elements:
- degree mark obtained in the Master's degree;
- time taken to obtain the Master's degree, assessed as the number of academic years between the academic year of first enrolment and the academic year of graduation.
The following other elements of the candidates' curriculum vitae will also be evaluated:
- internships or work experience carried out after obtaining the Master's degree and relevant to the same;
- PhD degrees, research grants and Post-Master's degrees relevant to this Post-Master's programme.
Candidates ranked within the top 80 of the pre-selection list drawn up on the basis of the evaluation of qualifications will be admitted to the subsequent entrance examination.
The admission test will be held starting at 8:30 a.m. on 5 February 2026 (at the Faculty of Civil and Industrial Engineering of Sapienza University of Rome, Via Eudossiana 18), with details to be communicated well in advance.
The list of those admitted to the admission test and the relevant schedule will be published on the Master's website (https://web.uniroma1.it/masteriisf/) by 3 February 2026; the publication will serve as official notification to those concerned and therefore no personal communications will be sent.
The admission test will be divided into the following three parts:
- a technical interview, aimed at testing candidates' knowledge of railway engineering;
- an oral test of English language proficiency;
- an aptitude test aimed at assessing the cultural profile, motivation, and practical and interpersonal skills of the candidates.
At the end of the admission test, a final ranking list for admission to the Post-Master's programme will be drawn up, based on the evaluation of qualifications and the results of the admission test, in descending order of the overall score assigned to each candidate.
The final ranking will be published by 12 February 2026 on the Post-Master's website (https://web.uniroma1.it/masteriisf/) and on the Sapienza website http://www.uniroma1.it/didattica/offerta-formativa/master.
These publications constitute official communication to interested parties and therefore no personal communications will be sent.
The first 35 candidates on the ranking list will be admitted to the Master's programme.
Those admitted to the Post-Master's programme will be required to confirm their participation by 19 February 2026 by emailing master_iisf@uniroma1.it.
Candidates are admitted to the Master's programme if they are among the winners in the above ranking; eligible candidates may be admitted to the Post-Master's programme only if the winners withdraw.
Winners on the ranking list who do not complete payment by the deadline of 28 February 2026 will be considered to have withdrawn.
